  • Acclaimed Jewish Culture Revival Ensemble, MOSTLY KOSHER, will headline a special performance of music and theater at The Pico Union Project on November 1, 2014, to celebrate the release of their debut CD. Led by clarinetist, pianist and singer Leeav Sofer, joined by Janice "Rachele the Matchmaker" Mautner Markham on violin and shtick as well as a full band, Mostly Kosher will be performing modern renditions of Klezmer and Yiddish classics reflecting Latin Jazz, Afro-Cuban and other world music influences. The ensemble’s musical stylings will be complemented by an opening performance by Mexican-American chanteuse, ZADA, and World Music trio, Triumph of the Egg.

The Pico Union Project was founded by Craig Taubman, internationally renowned musician and community leader, known to legions of Angelinos as the co-creator of the popular Friday Night Live program at Sinai Temple. The program will be presented by Pico Union’s Invisible Hour, a series of monthly “flash” inter-faith Shabbat experiences, with a theme of bringing communities together.
