PAPA is not a new band, but their new effort is more fresh and hungry sounding than anything we've heard from them before. PAPA's Darren Weiss and Danny Presant have been playing music together since the age of 11. They have seen a great deal of the world and what it has to offer a young rock and roll band, and they aren't satisfied. Rather than fold their cards, or let their dissatisfaction guide their sound into gloomier territory, they used it as fuel for a new perspective, and a funkier, dirtier sound.

"If in the past, we tried to find a place for ourselves within the musical landscape presented to us, we now see it as our absolute mission to make sure that we don't fit, and were very proud of that," says Weiss. Presant adds, "The sound out there is pretty bleak to us. We miss rhythm, we miss the sound of hunger, we miss honest dissatisfaction."

"Every day there's a shit storm of noise out there. On your radio, on your TV, even in your mind. It's so easy to get used to these things, that if you dont have a good hold on yourself, you may not even realize that you're listening to records that sound nothing like the way you feel, and eventually even your daydreams look like somebody else's fantasy. It's what inspired Jagger to sing 'Satisfaction,' it's what inspired Strummer to sing 'I'm So Bored with the U.S.A.,' and it's what inspires me to sing 'Hold On,'" says Weiss.

This single is the band's first music since their debut Tender Madness (2013). After spending years on the road headlining, playing festivals, and most recently handpicked by Florence and The Machine to support her on US shows, they took time to cultivate a new sound that reflects their experiences that have ranged from half-filled clubs to sold out amphitheaters, from self-releases to major label support and back again.
